Shepard's Pie

Ingredients

1 - 1 1/2 lbs ground beef

salt and pepper to taste

1 onion chopped

1 can undiluted tomato soup

frozen peas

Cheddar cheese slices

6 C mashed potatoes

Procedure

Fry the hamburger and onions and drain. Put this into an oven dish or 9 by 13 pan. Cover with the soup and then the peas. Cover all with the cheese slices. Top with mashed potatoes and shredded cheese on top if you like. Bake for 1/2 hour at 350 degrees.

Special Notes

This recipe is one that I have from Grandma Lincolnhol in her own handwriting. It was a very popular dish in my family growing up. Dad and I remember making it when you guys were little kids. It used to last 2-3 days but as you kids grew it would all get eaten up in one meal. I have made minor changes to the recipe such as changing American cheese slices for Cheddar cheese and adding shredded cheese to the top. The 6 cups of potatoes is a guess even on my Grandma's original recipe so make as much as you please!
