Ingredients

White corn flour

Salt

Water

Vegetable oil

Sea Salt

Procedure

Mix first the flour with just a dash of salt. Slowly add in water the dough should be dry but just wet enough to stick together. Let dough sit for at least a half an hour.

The dough should be molded into about 4 inch in diameter disks. Heat inch deep oil until it splatter when water is thrown in it. Lay the disks in the oil let them fry until they are starting to brown. Then flip them. When the other side is slightly golden brown lay them on a plate with paper towel and sprinkle on sea salt.

Special Notes

This is a traditional food Mara brought back from Colombia. It is eaten at pretty much every meal. It can have queso fresco and a little sugar mixed in to make it a yummy breakfast treat. They are also great stuffed with cheese, meats or eggs.
