Texas Sheet Cake

Ingredients

1 C water

3 1/2 T cocoa pwd.

2 sticks butter

1/4 tsp salt

2 C flour

2 C sugar

1/2 C buttermilk

1 tsp soda

1 tsp vanilla

2 eggs beaten

Frosting:

1 stick butter

3 1/2 tsp cocoa pwd.

6 tsp milk

1 box (3 cups?) powdered sugar

1/2 C pecans

Procedure

Boil first 4 ingredients then add the remaining ingredients. Spread batter in a greased 13 by 9 or jelly roll pan. Bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees.

To make the frosting boil the butter cocoa and milk then add the powdered sugar.

Frost while still warm and add nuts if desired.

Regular milk with 1T vinegar added can be substituted for the buttermilk.

When you kids were little we would call this death by chocolate cake. We would serve it with vanilla ice cream and fudge sauce.
