0327-CommandersReport

Greetings Mission Support,

Commander Report Crew 166:

Mathieu Roiseux

Sol 7

Earth date: 27/03/16

This night it was planned to try the spectrometers. As the Moon is

more present before sunrise, the astronomer and I woke up at 05:00 am.

Unfortunately the sky was cloudy at that time. We tried the experiment

during the day. We finally succeeded in placing the adaptation piece at

the telescope extremity. We observed the blue sky by taking care to

not being close of the sun. It was a great success and the astronomer

is impatient to try it by clear night.

Before lunch, we made the list of all the food that we have in

storage. As we didn’t receive the new kind of list to encode it we

used the list that crew 165 gave to us. The Excel document that we

made is attached. The data which concern us are on the third page, the

one named 166 MidRotation.

The today EVA wasn’t really used for an experiment. We took our time

to visit the top of the cliff near the HAB. It was really beautiful

and we had a nice view of the area near the HAB. This afternoon was

quite hot and we made some efforts to climb. I decided to make the EVA

a bit shorter than expected to allow us drinking water and prevent us

from a small dehydration.

During our trip, we went near two emitters placed by Gregory and they

performed well. Bertrand tried to use his relay but the receptor in

the HAB was off.

Tomorrow, Julie will take her last samples for her experiment. Indeed,

she needs some days to obtain results. The weather forecast for the

coming nights doesn’t look really good. As we absolutely need data for

the astronomical experiment, we will wake up during the night and hope

for some clear sky.
