Commander Report

01/22/2014

Ashley Dale

Our day started early and heavy - a full blown discussion around the breakfast table about the future of the space program with strong coffee at hand. The crew are getting on very well - I can already see life-long friendships being built here.

Research has been delayed somewhat by the presence of the Science Channel film crew, but they have now left. We'll be seeing ourselves in a documentary on Mars being aired later this year. Because of the delays, my crew are getting a little restless about the amount of time we have left versus what we came to do. However, I am forcing a morning off for the crew tomorrow. Everyone needs to catch up on some sleep.

Crew Physical Health:

Everyone is well. Vibha sprained an ankle a couple of months ago --

she's been having a little trouble with it after conducting EVAs (the

additional weight of the suit backpacks). Due to the nature of her

research, her EVAs are never long and are always nearby the HAB. We're

keeping an eye on it and will provide additional support for her if

necessary - Susan is on top of this.

Hab Maint:

Though we've just had a delivery of water, our tank was just about empty, and so we've emptied the trailer water tank. Last night we found the HAB car had a flat tire - Ewan and Michaela replaced it with the spare.
