Purpose:

Repetition of search and rescue action (medical EVA) with usage of rover with stretchers on it.

Retesting two UAV scouting capabilities.

Narrative:

The medical EVA, MEVA, conducted today was led by Commander Susan

Jewell MD and assisted by the Crew Scientist Michal Czapski. The objective was

to re-test the SAR operational procedures and the newly built EMR

rover during a full EVA donning spacesuits and backpack. The triage

was conducted at the injury site approximately 150 yards from the Hab.

This site was chosen to take into consideration the power supply of

the rover which carried the dummy astronaut, IGOR, strapped above the

make shift backboard. The rover was controlled semi-autonomously

inside the Hab by the Matteo the crew engineer and Julielynn acted as the

HabCom. We had several technical challenges during the simulation with

the straps falling off the moving rover, some difficulties carrying

the dummy astronaut in and out of the airlock and the rover wheels

getting stuck in the rocky sandy terrain. In conclusion, the MEVA was

a success and we will conduct a third MEVA to optimize operations,

increase efficiency and effectiveness of the simulations.

The scouting EVA started immediately after the injured patient, Igor, was left in the airlock. The crew found a fluvial channel close to the Hab. Michal first connected the UAVs and then let Matteo control one of them remotely from the Hab. The attempt was a failure as the UAV didn't move from the ground. The second UAV was operated by Michal. The UAV took off a few times, however due to the fog in the helmet, it was difficult to watch the trajectory. Also the record button wasn't pushed on and no recordings of this action was registered. The Crew would try to retest UAVs during the next EVA.
