Summary Title

Implementing Mission’s pre-pilot feasibility research projects and submitted studies

MISSION STATUS:

Overall, Mission status is evolving well as planned

  1. Morning briefings focused on

    1. Water heating system issue and in-Hab countermeasure available

    2. Saturnian/media visitors planned to arrive tomorrow between 0800 and 0900 to spend whole day onboard with clearance to participate along with EVA 4 as neutral observers/film crew

  1. Mission planning for the day re

a. 0800 - Breakfast/Crew tasks and duties

b. Water system Logistics review re crew showers, dish washing, loft tank maintenance

c. EVA3 of the day led by Ilaria Cinelli with Nicholas Ip Jewell and Philippe Souvestre

d. 1000 – EVA3 donning

e. 1042/1235 – EVA sortie/airlock time logs/1h 57minute long including besides initial daily engineering checks two technical evaluations such as 1/ UAV time and space range and 2/ topography influenced radio transmission alteration evaluation around the Hab

f. 1300 – Lunch time with post-EVA debrief

g. 1330 – 1330 – Prepwork/discussion re tomorrow’s Saturnian/media visitors

h. 1330 – 1400 – Checkpoint on timing/arrangement of planned research projects and studies

i. 1400 to 1700 –Crew working time on misc. personal mission tasks and other matters

j. 1630 – next selected research projects and studies are discussed as a team with technical demo and schedule arrangement proposition

k. 1730 – Crew Reports writing

l. 1815 – 1845 – Dinner time and social time

m. 1900 – 2100 – CAPCOM time window

n. 2100 – 2130 – Crew group meditation/yoga planned after CapCom tonight

  1. Mission planning for the week re

    1. Continue to review and further arrange planned pre-IRB submission pilot projects

    2. Saturnian/media visit tomorrow on SOL5 and SOL6

    3. Social time schedule revision with proposed new items

    4. Proposed daily crew group meditation/yoga planned after CapCom

  1. Mission planning for the remaining time of the mission

    1. Continue to review and further arrangement of planned pre-IRB submission pilot projects

    2. Creative crew brainstorming and group reflection schedule ready to be implemented

SIM Hab and Crew preparedness, activities, and actions went well as expected.

SOL ACTIVITY SUMMARY:

  1. Very successful EVA3 sortie/HABCOM routine with 3 very successfully accomplished objectives re

    1. UAV flight range evaluation,

    2. topography related HABCOM alteration evaluation, and

    3. Preliminary pre-test biomedical experience and assessment of MDRS spacesuit’s adverse impact on global human performance, well-being, and health

  2. Most of the afternoon spent with working on crew assigned tasks, duties as well as prepping for setting up preliminary feasibility pre-pilot study projects

  3. Creative Crew activity scenarios were discussed and evaluated re tomorrow’s Saturnian/media visit planned for SOL 5 and SOL 6

Look Ahead Plan:

  1. How are you going to follow up?

Daily systematic checks are planned ahead of time regarding maintenance and logistics routines and studies planning. We will abide by the timelines as we planned them.

  1. What is the plan for tomorrow?

Submitted EVA4 related investigations and testings will focus on an ATV SAR with conditioning, retrieval, and triage of a wounded astronaut on an EVA at a short distance from Hab.

Anomalies and any problems in work:

Satisfactorily hot water is now available at the Hab.

Toilets work well according to guidelines and recommendations

Weather: Dry cold, no wind, clear sunny blue skies. Surface 2cm thick solid ice found in the trailer tank and frost found in shady areas all around the Hab, no snow.

Crew Physical Status: Everyone is in excellent health and demonstrates first-rate morale.

EVA: where did you go?

Mid-morning, EVA3 crew spend over 1.5 hour including chronologically 20 and 45 minutes for UAV payload delivery [Eval 1] and topography related HABCOM alteration evaluation [Eval 2], both performed North-East sector from the Hab within 1000 meter radius.
