Purpose:

1. Travel to Tank Wash

2. Collect surface and subsurface geological samples

3. Collect biological specimens along traverse

Narrative:

We departed the Hab for Tank Wash and arrived at our destination at 1030. The wash turned out be a diverse place for both geological and biological sampling. In total, a dozen geological samples and 20 biological specimens were collected during today's EVA, among the most diverse sample collections to date. All participating scientists were pleased with the results and have enough to keep them busy in the lab for at least a day or so.

No major technical challenges were encountered on this EVA. The ATV's operated normally, however they still require some extra care right at start up but this has not been a hindrance to activities. We resolved the radio range issue from the previous EVA by establishing a relay point on top of a hillside at the halfway point to Tank Wash. We were able to hail the Hab every half hour to maintain communication and this seemed an effective solution.
