Date: 01/12/2016

Sky Conditions: 0 clouds, perfect

Wind conditions: No wind

Observation Start Time: 20:00

Observation End Time: 00:50

Summary: I have done just visual sky observations, learning constellations I did not know before on the South part of the sky, I attached camera to the telescope, learnt how to focus telescope with the camera attached, made a picture of Orion nebula, showed Jupiter with its Moons to the Commander, learnt how to direct the telescope to a user object using R.A. and declination, found object Comet C/2013 US10 (Catalina), failed with taking picture of Catalina. The next goals: making the telescope follow the object to make pictures with longer exposures and make composite picture of Catalina.

Objects viewed: M42, Sirius (to focus), Jupiter, Comet C/2013 US10.

Problems Encountered: During the counter-clockwise rotation the dome stopped and did not want to go further, it seems like it was blocked near the point South. It still could rotate in clockwise direction and could rotate in opposite direction till this point, I had to rotate it to about 330o. Also, I am scared to touch it without any need and do not park to the East during rotation period.

Thank you for your support,

Yours sincerely,

Shteyngardt Veronika
