How To Start A Clothing Business With Zero Dollars!

How To Start A Clothing Business With Zero Dollars!

Wanna start your own clothing🧥 business?

But you don't have any money for capital?

If so, then I got you!

In this post, I'm going to share with you a 5 step blueprint that you can follow in order to setup and run your own clothing business i.e. without any upfront investment.

Thus, stick till the very end if you wanna learn more about this topic.

Steps Discussed:

Without further ado, let me jump straight into more detail.

1. Sign Up For Printful

Firstly, you need to signup for a platform called Printful.

If you're not aware of this platform, it's basically a print on demand manufacturer, which allows you to upload your product designs to their premade mock-up templates (e.g. t-shirts, hoodies, sweaters, jackets, bottoms, etc.)

This company handles everything from manufacturing, shipping, customer service, etc. – thus, you don't have to worry about all that extra staff.

Your only duty is to upload your designs to the provided mock-ups – then you market the pictures of those products to your target audience.

If someone places an order, Printful takes care of everything i.e. from manufacturing to order fulfilment.

They'll just deduct their manufacturing cost from the money paid by the customer – then you take the remainder.

But the key is to price your items in such a manner that leaves you with a decent margin.

For example, if Printful charges 12 bucks for manufacturing a t-shirt, you should probably charge something like 20 bucks – so that you can remain with an $8 profit.

NB: There's also other print on demand manufacturers as well, but Printful happens to be my favourite.

2. Create Some Designs Using Canva

Assuming that you've signed up for Printful, the next step is to create some product designs using Canva.

What I like about this platform is that, it's very easy to use, since it comes with some premade templates which you can edit.

And it also has a web based version too! – meaning, you don’t have to stress about downloading the app to your device.

Now, you might be saying;

‘I don't have any design skills?’

You don't have to stress about all that staff – because the best selling t-shirts aren't fancily designed.

Instead, they're just some simple quotes – which are either funny or inspiring to people.

Plus, you can find some great tutorials on YouTube on how to design t-shirts – thus, you can learn this staff ASAP!

3. Upload The Designs To The Product Mock-ups

Assuming that you now have some designs for your products, it's now high time to upload them to Printful.

Like I mentioned earlier, Printful comes with some mock-up templates which you can use.

And they show you the exact positions of where to place your designs – which makes it even much easier for you!

NB: You should make sure that, you don't use the same colour for both the product & the design

E.g., a white design wont suit well on a white t-shirt – coz it wont be visible.

But instead, a white design looks great when placed on a black t-shirt (or any other dark colour).

Thus, you should keep that in mind when uploading your designs – and Printful allows you to choose your preferred product colours as well.

4. Price Your Items

Once you've uploaded your designs, the next step is to set prices for your items.

As l mentioned earlier, you should probably price your items in such a manner that gives you a decent profit i.e. after Printful has deducted its charges.

And the beauty part is that, Printful gives you some rough retail prices which you should sell your products at – thus, giving you a clue on how much you should charge.

But I highly urge you to look at how much your competitors are charging, so that you wont go off-guard with your prices.

5. Market Your Products

Assuming you’ve now completed the previous steps, the next step is to market your products.

There are various ways in which you can do this i.e. you just have to pick a way which resonates with you.

Most people use paid ads – which are great, but probably not ideal for someone who doesn't have the budget.

So if you don’t have the funds, you should use other ways; like creating a Facebook group or Instagram page related to your niche – then you start publishing some valuable content.

By doing so, you’ll be able to attract an audience that's interested in your niche – and they'll probably buy your products somewhere down the line.

Though this method takes time & effort, it's great in the long term – since you'll be able to build a loyal tribe of customers.

You can also list your products on popular marketplaces such as eBay, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, Etsy, etc.

And the beauty part is that, these marketplaces receives a ton of free organic traffic on a daily basis – thus, you can get sales whilst leveraging their authority.
