In this quick post, l will be comparing two of the most popular email marketing softwares i.e. Aweber Vs GetResponse.

I will base my comparison on the following factors:

NB: I have some exclusive bonuses for people who signups for any of these softwares using my links.

More details provided at the end of this article.

Free Plans

Before committing to any software, it is important to signup for a free trial โ€“ so as to decide if the software is ideal for you or not.

For this reason, both of these softwares offer free trials โ€“ so as to give their users some time to learn more about these softwares.

Although they both offer free versions, it is important to note that Aweber gives a more generous free plan โ€“ which allows you to build your list to up to 500 subscribers.

Thus, you can use Aweber to grow your list from scratch without paying a penny for the software.

On the flip side, GetResponse only offers a 30 day free trial โ€“ which allows you to test the features of this software for a full month.

If you wish to use the software beyond the trial period, you'll be required to pay for the subscription โ€“ regardless of the number of subscribers that you have on your list.

This might be a huge roadblock for most beginners who're just bootstrapping since they'll incur extra costs to their business โ€“ which is not healthy for start-ups.

Thus, if you're looking for a software which gives a more generous free plan, then Aweber is a great option (although there are other great freemium softwares like Mailchimp).

Pricing

When it comes to pricing, it's a bit tricky to compare these two softwares โ€“ since each of them has its own set of characteristics.

GetResponseโ€™s starter plan costs $15/month โ€“ and it allows you to build your list to up to 1000 subscribers.

On the other hand, Aweber costs $19/month for its starter plan โ€“ and it is only limited to 500 subscribers.

When your list grows beyond the 500 subscriber mark, you'll be forced to upgrade to the $29 plan โ€“ thus, making it even more expensive than GetResponse.

However, it is important to note that, GetResponse's starter plan does not come with the automation features โ€“ which are otherwise offered in Aweber's starter plan.

Thus, the issue of pricing really depends on what you value i.e. subscriber count or automation features.

Interface

When it comes to outlook, we all know that GetResponse has one of the most cleanest dashboards in the industry โ€“ since this software is a bit modern than most providers.

Thus, GetResponse offers a more robust dashboard โ€“ which is easier to use and navigate.

On the other hand, Aweberโ€™s dashboard is a bit outdated i.e. compared to other softwares.

I understand that this software is a bit old โ€“ but they should at least try to update their interface โ€“ so as to keep up with the changing world.

Deliverability

When it comes to email marketing, deliverability is key โ€“ since it determines the extend to which your campaigns will succeed or fail.

Thus, you should always try to find a provider with high deliverability โ€“ so that your emails will reach your customers' inboxes.

With that being said, the deliverability rates of these two softwares varies from time to time โ€“ due to continuous changes in external factors.

But based on our previous tests, we discovered that, Aweber has a higher deliverability rate than GetResponse, since Aweber was able to hit the 89.9% threshold.

On the flip side, GetResponse was on the lower side of the 80s โ€“ with an 82% deliverability rate.

This is quite low โ€“ since we expect email providers to have at least 85%+ deliverability rate.

But again, these metrics are not constant โ€“ thus, they might change in the near future.

Double Opt-In

When it comes to email marketing, it is important to verify your leads before they join your list.

This enables you to have more qualified leads on your list โ€“ rather than just a bunch of non-engaging subscribers i.e. who might not even be interested in your company.

With that being said, Aweber offers a more strict double opt-in process โ€“ meaning people have to confirm their subscription before theyโ€™re added to your list.

Without their confirmation, they will remain on the pending list.

On the flip side, GetResponse is not strict when it comes to double opt-in โ€“ meaning, anyone who enters his/her email address is automatically added to your list.

This leads to high % of unqualified leads โ€“ since people will not be asked if they โ€˜truly' want to join your list or not.

Thus, Aweber does a great job when it comes to double opt-in procedure.

However, it is important to mention that, double opt-in procedure might reduce your opt-in rates by a significant margin โ€“ since most people tends to forget to verify their subscription when they signup through a landing page.

Thus, it is important to take this issue into consideration before getting started with double opt-ins.

Ease Of Use

When it comes to ease of use, everyone has his/her favourite option โ€“ since we all see things from different perspectives.

But in my opinion, l find GetResponse easier to navigate than Aweber โ€“ since the former was designed with beginners in mind โ€“ thus, most of their functions are less complex in nature.

But again, it really depends on how you view each of these two softwares โ€“ since some people find Aweber simple and less complex than GetResponse.

Templates

When choosing a software, it is important to check the templates which are provided by the software โ€“ so that you wont struggle in designing your landing pages, sales pages, opt-in pages, etc.

In this modern day and age, you don't need to stress about designing a landing page from scratch โ€“ since it is the duty of a software to provide templates for their users.

With that being said, both of these softwares comes with in-built templates โ€“ which are all designed to help users in creating their marketing pages.

Although they do offer free templates, it is important to note that, GetResponse offers more advanced templates than Aweber โ€“ since GetResponse invests much into their resources โ€“ in order to keep up with the changing environment.

Also, GetResponse offers more templates than Aweber โ€“ so as to give you more options for designing your marketing pages.

When it comes to Aweber, it's a different story.

Not only does Aweber offer fewer templates โ€“ but their templates are a bit outdated.

The reason being that, this software rarely updates their resources; which keeps them behind other giants โ€“ since most companies are always evolving in order to stay relevant.

But if they work on this issue, they might as well compete with GetResponse.

Automated Workflows

When it comes to automation workflows, it's kinda difficult to pick which one is better โ€“ since each of them offers unique automation features which are easy to use for most people.

With both softwares, you can create stunning workflows using the easy drag and drop editor.

Thus, in my opinion, l think that both of them are great โ€“ since they both offer robust workflow features.

Overall Features

Now let's take a look at the overall features โ€“ so that you can decide which one offers a big bang for your buck.

In my opinion, GetResponse offers more features than Aweber โ€“ since GetResponse was designed as an all-in-one marketing software, which offers sales funnels, webinar funnels, quiz funnels, etc.

Thus, GetResponse is more than just an email marketing software โ€“ since it also comes with other marketing tools and features as well.

On the flip side Aweber was designed as a pure email marketing software โ€“ meaning it only offers limited features which are only relevant to email marketing.

Aweber does not offer funnel oriented features โ€“ thus, you'll be forced to look for complimentary softwares like ClickFunnels โ€“ which results in additional costs to your business.

Thus, GetResponse is great for marketers whoโ€™re looking for more than just email marketing features โ€“ since it comes with a ton of additional features as well.

Which One Is Better For Affiliate Marketing?

Both of these softwares are great for affiliate marketing โ€“ since they're all designed to serve people in this industry.

However, it is important to note that; Aweber is a bit strict when it comes to other sensitive industries like crypto, pharmaceuticals, drugs, etc.

Thus, your account might get banned if you promote any products which falls in any of these industries.

On the flip side, GetResponse has less restrictions โ€“ meaning, you can promote products which falls in other sensitive industries without getting in trouble.

Which One Should You Choose?

Personally, l like GetResponse than Aweber โ€“ since GetResponse is feature-rich and cost effective in nature.

Also, GetResponse offers more advanced templates โ€“ which makes it easier to create stunning pages for your campaigns without too much hassle.
