New Hampshire

live free or die (trying)

Flew to Laconia, NH for lunch and to reconnect with Virgil alumni. Margaret and husband live there and she was classmate to pilot Jim from Clifton Park.

In the olden days we dated, here on Dad's hog at Hog Heaven or Van Gorders Farm. Pete Van snapped the shot with a Polaroid. Helmets were not required nor usually desired then. We hadn't seen each other for 52 years but it didn't seem like that long ago.

As we approached,Visual Flight Rules, had a wee bit of trouble finding the unmanned Moultonborough airport. A short bumpy strip in the mountains. No flight plan as we only decided an hour before takeoff that weather looked good. Marg and husband Terry were there to meet us. He flew jet planes during the Vietnam era and she had a 38 year career as stewardess with American Airlines.

A sense of the beauty on the trip over Vermont as we climbed to 7500 feet to get over the clouds into smoother air.

Margaret has a house right on the beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee . Vaulted ceiling bedroom has this view. I'd have to say this is one of the best settings I've seen for a retirement house. Next trip we'll have to plan time for a boating adventure.

A zoom shot of above picture , just left of the island NE to Mt Cocorua.

Upon takeoff amid the bumpy air pitching and yawing I snapped off shots in the easterly direction of Margarets house behind the pilot out the back window. Got lucky capturing it after extensive editing for tilt, color, etc. Toltec Point and her house under the arrow. You get a real sense of just how majestic a place this is to live. The left side is Moultonborough Bay as it expands into the 21 mile long Winnipesaukee with numerous coves and islands.
