chapter 361

Theresa Caputo

Long Island Medium, believe it or not

8/28/2014

I attended the Theresa Caputo show at the Palace Theater in Albany with this psychic chic - connector with the dead- channeling spirits whatever. They wouldn't let me take photos so I steal this and refuse to credit their photographer in spite. Most people are non-believers in this medium since 99% are fakes. As an engineer I'm a very skeptical analytical person who does believe there are certain people who do have extra sensory perceptions. Theresa's performance was amazing. I like her TV show but I went to the live show to see it unedited and expecting her accuracy to be failing. It did not. She was connecting on about 99% with the 25 or so people she read while walking throughout the crowd of 3000. It was an emotional and spiritual experience better than the TV show. If you keep an open mind you might consider ideas that you'd normally dismiss with a knee jerk response.

I wanted to follow up with her readings of local people. Skeptics say they are fakes and planted individuals. Not the case for my followup.

One example:

She says somebody died in a violent motorcycle accident as she looks toward a few rows of people. Feel like it was a brother or close friend. Reluctantly a guy named Chris admits that happened to his friend. Theresa sees tumbling rolling a violent collision with other cars, something with the head. Chris says yes the person had veered on the road hit parked cars, went flying and ended up with a broken neck. Gasp and tension from audience. Theresa says he wants you to know he felt no pain, don't worry his spirit immediately left this earth.

Didn't you have a nickname for him? Yes, his name was Bobby Bower and I called him Boobs. Everyone laughs. Tension relieved.

Theresa says didn't you get a tattoo to honor him, I see a military flags or an anchor. Is that right? Yes, he and some friends got the same Navy style tattoo to remember him.

You weren't there when it happened were you? That's right I wasn't there, I was out of town, but I wish I could have been there to maybe change the outcome somehow.

You have a red motorcycle too don't you. No but I do have a 4 wheeler that is very special to me and it is bright red.

There was a party, he keeps saying huff, huff. Did he leave in a huff, disagreement, argument fight ? No acknowledgement from Chris.

Theresa says do you have a girl friend? Yes, she is right here celebrating being together one year. I'm not saying you should or shouldn't get married but the spirit wants you to be open to it, live your life and enjoy and don't be afraid losing loved ones.

So.  I wanted to verify the authenticity of the story but with sensitivity without prying or hurting anyones feelings. I googled, found the local story of the accident, found the obit, googled the people named, googled the addresses and phone numbers. I did not want to directly contact the relatives and close friends of the deceased but I did phone one parent of the friend of the deceased after I found out my brother-in-law Mike knew they lived in their same village.

That mother I spoke with was happy to speak with me as her nephew Chris had just been to the house telling about being read by Theresa. We confirmed the details to each other. They were all in a close circle of friends and relatives involved with the tragedy. She expanded upon the details I heard that night. It completely confirmed to me that the facts of the case were real and that the reading was spontaneous, real, and not planted. Chris had simply gone that night with his girl friend to celebrate one year dating.

After that phone conversation I start composing this chapter my Sister calls. I tell her I feel the chills sweep over my body because of the psychic spiritual things I have been feeling this week. She then says she just went to a psychic reading this morning. The person hit on a few specific personal connections then said to Kathy, I feel another presence in the room. She says, "It's nobody's fault" and she has the same name as you. WOW. Her last words come back. Had to share that meaningful message with in-law-brother and sister.

The next day the Mother of the deceased called me and we had a warm and lengthy conversation. She reconfirmed the details and added that the tattoo was a huge U.S. Navy anchor on Chris's back with date of departure. She had not gone to the show but was amazed that she was contacted via Facebook by someone else in that audience. That stranger just wanted her to know that her son had come through. That person's Facebook name was "Terry N Mike". She was telling that story to her friend who I had contacted when the friend mentioned this Terry had also made contact.

I seem to be drawn into this circle, why I don't know. Theresa had said that the connection she makes with one audience member will also have meaning to others in the room. There are more connections for me as our loved ones passed within a few months of each other, we went to the same funeral home, I have 5 or so family and friends who live in the same area.

I've felt spiritual ever since going to the Theresa Show. I felt it during my Woodstock trip the following days. I was drawn to the Tibetan Buddhist Temple. Kathy had a little Lhasha Apso dog for many years whose origin is Tibet. Stretch too far? Or is it a cold and a broken Hallelujah?

This week after a swim at the Y, I decided to have lunch at the Ravenswood where I haven't been in a year. I drive in and it's under reconstruction so I leave. A few hours later the State Police find the body of a woman 12 feet behind Ravenswood. She had been missing for 2 days and was a member of Kathy's church. I suspect she had been distraught, but investigation is on-going (indeterminate) . Her mother who works in the church had sent us a sympathy card two years ago. Am I drawn to spirits lately or just another coincidence.

I see from their Facebook pages how tight a group they were: Mother of deceased writes this was from the big memorial BobbyFest this summer. It was a 1-2-3 Bower yell. Was that the huff sound Theresa was speaking of? When this footballer crowd does a low toned team wuff it can sound something like a huff.

Chris a local golf pro and girlfriend who were read at the show.

The departed in center.

A skeptic would say that researchers could compile much of this information prior to the show. It would take an enormous effort to do so. And then Theresa is going quickly through 25 and more people on that night helter skelter. The night prior she did the same (I spoke with the skeptical usher who was becoming a believer). She is non stop filming for the weekly show and traveling the country, and doing sessions on Long Island. One could fake many things, but not the deep emotion that you see in people's reactions.

History is full of fakes and science cannot verify any psychic phenomenon. My example can be said to border on cold readings or fishing statements of vague suggestions. They were generalizations for my example, but it was the only case where I had a name to go on. Theresa hit on many more specific insights for others where I could not do any follow up research. For example, she said to one lady what does the Young Rascals mean to you. That's what her deceased husband always called the kids, and had named their dog Rascal.

There are plenty of negative critics who have never experienced her performances and are not giving her an objective review. I've seen them but don't respect them enough to even link here.  One reporter wanted to be a disbeliever but seems to have been taken in although seemingly embarrassed to admit it felt real.

Speaking of explosive performances, I have to show one of my photos in each chapter. Viewed the Jackson Demolition of this hotel in Albany. Coincidentally Kathy worked a bit at a Mohawk Airlines ticket office in the next door former DeWitt Clinton Hotel when I first met her. It's the tall red brick building on the left in this linked Wellington Hotel Annex video. She also brought home a stray pigeon that was wandering on our street one day. It was banded and she got him to the proper authorities. Probably coincidental.

Stay open to spirit.  There's no app for that.

So Bobby passed thru Betz Funeral Home three months after my wife did the same. I feel somehow connected in this whole story since my wife grew up in that same community and there are several interconnections to people, places, and things.

7/20/2016 update: Chris contacted me to correct a couple minor points.
