a jay stay
Family rented this lovely Adirondack Cabin in Jay, NY for a few days to enjoy the northwoods, especially the Florida contingent.
Had a brief outside fire pit moment with my home split wood after dinner at the Hungry Trout.
Chef Greg did a fantastic job making breakfast for us each day. Not his specialty but we give him an A+ anyway.
We did some reconnaissance fly fishing on the Ausable River East Branch. I shot this waterfalls from the covered bridge in Jay. Note that during Tropical Storm Irene in 2011 it was a raging river.
Got a 10 dollar veterans discount on the drive up to Whiteface Mountain. We climbed the last two tenths so we can say we bagged another one of the 46 high peaks. Ben and Amanda have notched about 20 of them.
Lovely lunch at the scenic Crown Plaza overlooking the village of Lake Placid's Mirror Lake.
Greg had success mastering the art of fly fishing on the West Branch of the Ausable River although we didn't catch any. Last week another youtuber did good, fishing this same section.
Ben also got his line wet downstream.
Had to add this lucky fisherman with his Orvis (Yeti) guide on the Battenkill River near me. He is owner of Taconic Guide Service. I was floating down in my kayak when I recorded the action in 2013.
From the air looking back upstream, Copperas pond is on the left. Colleen and I hiked into that one winter.
Hiked the Mount Vanhoevenberg East Trail with a nice view of the high peaks past the south meadow.
I was not a big fan of the trail itself.
