ADK Scenes near camp

Sure everybody says it, but do they really embrace it. Had a request for vicarious verdant virgin visions of the ADK and got a free chicken parm dinner for my prior chapters effort, something the rest of my patrons should keep in mind.

Just a random cam click here while walking around the Stoner Lake camp before closes.  Ours has the blue roof on the right. Little Rooster Mountain behind camp is where we bush wacked into the lovely dark deep woods with neighbors in Stoner Lake video. The slide show on the (free) Picassa site above should work to give a taste of some 70 nearby scenes. There is also a "View in Google Earth" feature (it's so cool).

Blue Mt Hike near the Adidrondack Museum

Trimble had a nice free online interactive program for years but abandoned it.

Technology notes:

Our c. 1949 Crosley Shelvador fridge has been in the camp from that time. Was a state of the art innovation at the time, imagine to have shelves in the door, it was like magical. You've never seen such modern refrigerators, the ad says and it's advertised for a long life. Sure if you call 60 years long, but will it last as long as an iPhone? There was one online for #3200.

Crosley family crest  shows the deer like the Olmsteds whose descendants also came from England. The Crosley Brothers changed the nation from Cincinnati with post depression post war era radios, cars, and refrigerators. Buy the old 1939 GE model (little foggy on specifics?) for $4400 that I grew up with.

We didn't have no fancy shelves in the door. Tractor Dale think about this??? Or was it the 1934 Sears Coldspot?  -    '42

Our c. 1949 Hotpoint Pushbutton stove was also breaking technology. The mouse click of the time, would fire up a burner. They advertised talking colors that speak for themselves. Our left rear featured a fry or bake recessed well for boiling water or frying.

Because of my early training as a surveyor for Don McKee Surveyors  in Virgil I found the NYS DPW survey marker near camp next to the DEC sign. You'll probably be interested to know the DPW merged with DOT where I worked and is now HQ in my old DEC building where I spent most of my life.
