chapter 399

Gilboa

it was an electric atmosphere

Tempting danger with latest launch. Got a second kayak for no good reason. Have been logging a lot of miles since I can't really walk much. Picked it up near the Gilboa Pump Storage facility so went out on the lower reservoir for a couple hours. Went up the Schoharie Creek inlet till it got too shallow. The Schoharie Reservoir is just upstream. You might remember the flooding drama during Hurricane Irene and the Fox news coverage. The comments are a little hostile.

Couldn't omit this fine eagle I captured on a Round Lake paddle. They are everywhere.

Took this at a photo friend's house in a nearby development. They are having a dickens of a time getting rid of some woodchucks that moved under their deck and shed. The apples really attract these suburban deer.

Have hit the morning workouts several times. This was one of Lucas's quiet moments. Let him walk in the bleachers until he took off running. At each section I had to climb over an iron pipe railing that he just ducked under. Finally tracked him down after about 5 sections.

I liked this composition using some low ISO speed to get detail in the sunrise. Such a peaceful place in the morn.

Had breakfast in Coxsakie and recorded these two ships passing in the night if you know what I mean. The DEC vessel is using electronic monitoring via GPS and passive transponder chips in Sturgeon for the purposes of fisheries management. We spoke to the crew on the docks the last visit. The big tug Doris Moran is heading back to the NY docks where it is stationed.
