fantasy and reality

There can be a big disconnect between one's perception of the way you think things are and what is actually happening. We all want to dream and pretend, yet sometimes the fantasy becomes the reality. Such can be the case for a biker road trip. It is an exploration, an adventure. The Gypsy Tour at Laconia goes back to 1916 when the participants were vagabons traveling in tents. We thus were unknowingly carrying on the tradition sleeping in fields and shaving by telephone poles.
I have re-edited my old pictures of trips to Laconia, NH to inspire Tony who just bought one of his life's dreams: a Harley Fat Boy. It was a mere 25 years ago when we each accompanied the other on our first visits to purchase Harleys.
"Come back to where it all began", beckons the cyber biker babe for Laconia Bike Week June 8-16, 2013. Tony has 2 twin boys, young men on a mission who are quite interested in all this Harley mistique. I'd expect at least one to ride the old red '75 Sportster and accompany him on the trip. If not, I'll borrow it. I am thinking of alternatives to get in on the action, but I really don't want to get enmeshed back into the sub-culture. There have been many failed planned missions due to weather, conflicts, etc. As they say, speaking is inexpensive. Just do it, or don't do it, that is the question. If it happens a must stop is the Bikers for Jesus tent on the way home.
I have photo edited each snapshot so as to make it seem new and mystical all the while retreading old ground. That's what retirement is.
update 1/3/2013 I took the polar plunge at 6 degrees outside purchasing this 1994 Sportster 883 (video) from a good Lithuanian deer hunter home. Had to test ride up and down the road to make sure it felt right. The saga continues...
