Chapter 169

Ch 169 New Frontiers the case files they didn't want me to find
Records retrieval is not always as glamorous as you might think!
While driving down into Albany this week I had an urge to pull this case. I was only interested in a few pages of affidavit documents and motions from the Sullivan County Supreme Court regarding the billion dollar Frontier Insurance case (subsequently transferred to the Appellate Court here Ch 128). I photographically documented the difficulty of my pulling out certain papers from these voluminous case [7 pages of inadequate index citations, 12 boxes of messy records that are somewhat chronological by date and somewhat by party status (50+ parties)]. I've now gained access to the inner chamber file rooms where normal people are not permitted. I'm letting you in on the fun too.
Frontier is the worst case I've hit. A simpler retrieval this same week was retrieving the indictment (16 pages long) of Yassin Aref (convicted terrorist conspirator) from the US Dist Court (Ch 25 & Ch 108 & attorney's story ). Retrieval was just a few keystokes and mouse click effort from the Fed Courts public terminals. Security staff don't know my name yet but do give me a friendly wink as I had actually taken several days out to attend Aref's trial to hear his testimony.
News from the hockey front just realized one of my teammates is playing Juniors, losing to the Walpole Express thrice but will be there Feb 15-18, 2008. Nearby Franklin, MA will be the home of another teammate who is leaving the Navy to return home and pursue another career there.
