Ch 123B: DaVinci Code Revealed                         Unindicted Co-Conspirator

I took this picture at the State Library when I was copying some Court of Appeals case law. Didn't ask, just turned off flash and was unopposed. Interesting thing is that Onondaga Castle is part of the Nedrow Reservation just below Syracuse on Rte 11 where I used to hitch hike from in college. My googlation revealed that General George Washington sent our troops to destroy the Castle and massacre those pesky savages (linked). A hundred years later they formed a brass band with cornets (like the trumpet). Also found out that David Hill was the band manager/director and went to 'college' in Virginia, at the Hampton Institute (Class of 1895) where whitey attempted to make them heathens civilized like us. Another hundred years later Sid Hill (decendant?) is the current spiritual leader of the Onondaga Nation battling current political leaders. Must stop as now were getting into land rights-Superfund- Onondaga Lake-toxics etc.

Trying to stay under the 1000 words, but I worked on the construction (surveying) of Interstate 81 in the late '60s from Binghamton thru Homer, Preble and Tully. Just a few miles further north at Nedrow in 1971, I believe Indians were shooting at construction workers leading to some rerouting of the Interstate but I couldn't find that reference on the web. Tensions do still run high as evidenced by this 2006 billboard notice proclaiming "Onondaga Nation where tradors, rapists, and murders rule, protected by wannabe gov Elliot Spitser".

Reservation Tax issues also led to confrontation a  decade back. Used to fill up cheap there with the '58 Chev.
