Ch 88 : Millionaires Club                                                 Jim's Garage

Briefly:

Sister Kathy was the prime organizer of the Auction and had great comments on Mom. But gotta move on, to next day’s adventure.

Saratoga Auto Museum Board of Directors member and Chief of Shawn’s company Taylor Made http://www.taylormadegroup.com/frames/fshome.html but down to earth guy, Jim Taylor (pictured), invited us volunteers to a luncheon reception and tour of his new Gloversville facility housing his private automobile collection of some 60 whoppers. Fantastic!

Last year I drove some of these to a Saratoga Show from which I had made a photo collage and e-mailed to Jim. He has it printed and framed for display in this facility. He was tickled to receive a nicer different collage that I had printed up 8 by 10. Perhaps will be displayed next to his other art work, like the paintings, or the HD Sporster tank bike seat sax player sculpture. [and gave him this one too]

This amazing collection includes cars that have won prizes at renowned competitions at Pebble Beach and Amelia Island. Jim raced some; a 2001 Chevy Avalanche in the 2001 INCA Trail 4x4 rally in South America.  (Entry A48 http://www.hero.org.uk/inca/ ), Look for another in 2007 in the worlds oldest rally  the 7,500 mile Beijing  to Paris Race.  http://users.rcn.com/cmckenna.interport/PekingtoParis/history.html

Louis Golub (Price Chopper) was also there to give us a little pep talk.

Met young son-in-law Kip who runs this facility. Was race car builder for Nascar in NC. Told him I wanted his job. [later applied- no dice]

The 31 Caddy shown here, like perhaps a third of this collection was once owned by Jim’s dad, the founder of Taylor Made. He has 1500 miles on the new white Ford GT already. The company president’s (Dennis Flint) had it ordered from Brown’s Ford but relinquished it to Jim. That was nice of him.
