Ch 212  Dennis Dammerman, GE to AIG                                                                     toxic assets

Autoshow 2009

Dennis has been a member of our Silver Arrow Club at the auto museum for as long as I can remember. Some of his cars comprise our current exhibit and were featured in this spring's autoshow, from which I composed the video while judging cars. In the video, I used the calliope for background music. Dennis is not the old guy operating it, he hires people to do that- why couldn't I be that guy? He was the youngest CFO of General Electric in 1984. That was about the time GE was digging in it's heels to resist dredging the Hudson of the PCB"s it dumped there from its Fort Edward transformer insulator facility there. It was also about the time I did some water quality work on the river there. I only helped out with a radioactive dye/time of travel study and some conventional pollutant studies regarding other dischargers there (like Finch Pruyn Ch 190).

We are celebrating 400 years on the Hudson since Hendrik Hudson first sailed up to Albany this year. Also, the long delayed massive dredging of GE's PCB's is about to get underway. Had a nice day for a motorcycle ride to Ft Edward to investigate. The dredges on Roger's Island were quiet as water level was too high to begin with the clamshell. Shot the train station on the way to the dewatering site near the golf course (removed color & adobied).

They say he is a nice guy but I've not met him.

Director of AIG

recently appointed blah blah if I could understand this stuff, I wouln't be writing about it.

While up north revisited Finch Pruyn's Hyde Museum. Really liked this Adirondack Guide by Winslow Homer better than the "priceless" stuff. Amazing he could convey the shading and tones on such a small few inches high scene with just a few brush strokes. not that anyone cares.
