Ch 91 Throughput                                                      fast growing business

Am learning a new language here at FedEx. The Industrial Engineers and production managers in the audience will understand. Our actual throughput of 1064 packages per hour exceeded our goals last week. [Sanitary Engineers- note this is similar to your mass transport flux mechanism or the software and electrical engineer’s megabytes per second- my line mate is a Union College EE who works at GE R&D during the rest of the day]

We should do better after our move into a new facility at North East Industrial park in Guilderland where we’re upgrading our old light duty Hytrol gravity straight roller conveyor line. http://www.hytrol.com/catalog.cfm?catid=5

Haven’t been able to acquire many quality photos in the new job as shift supervisor Steve advised against, wondering WHY I would want to photograph. I recall filling out at least one homeland security form, I suppose due to Anthrax and improvised explosive devices concerns. Or maybe they think I’m setting up a hit on a shipment of L.L.Bean moccasins. I did manage to take an early morning shot at our old facility while Supervisor Leo was busy with paperwork. He is pretty cool- Hispanic or Mexican I think. I was trying to clear up one of the hot QA’s (undeliverables in Quality Assurance program) and had a difficult to communicate with customer on the phone. Leo took over and jabbered away in tongue for a few minutes, resolving the situation. Security booth at the new facility wasn’t going to let me in until I made up a story and then proceeded to snap off a couple shots.
