Marienburg

My old Danzers .5 liter Mug today, made in W Germany, designed by fellow SU alum Jorsak '74 while still a Junior at SU. My Danzers was in old German Park St area, only remaining restaurant here on FB .

Marienburg Fortress is a magnificent structure near Wurzburg. In 1976 Kathy and I visited by chance this church/castle/fortress built in the year 706. We had flown into Germany with free passes from Lufthansa landing at Frankfurt for a week vacation, renting an Opel car with no reservations just a vague idea of places to go. We drove to Wurzburg the first night as I wanted to visit the brewery since I'd so much enjoyed steins of Wurzburg beer on tap at Danzers German Restaurant in Syracuse during my college years. Driving toward Regensburg/Munich we were intrigued by this impressive Marienburg Fortress and stopped in for an unescorted tour. Kathy is at the fortress wall overlooking the Main River valley below.
