Terry's Journey in Retirement

Chapter 628

Miscquamicut Beach

Taylor Swift country

We got to this Rhode Island Beach in the afternoon. As we walked onto the sand a voice called out. Hey, Terry. It was a neighbor from home 200 miles away. Had no idea he was going there and vice versa.

We opened some cocktails as we climbed up into the Lifeguards Chair at bottom of photo with a great view of the nearly empty beach. Then it was dinner at Andreas in the white Tent near bottom. Their facility was wiped out in Hurricane Sandy a few years back. They did not rebuild, merely put up tents which seem to work well. Swordfish was sumptuous. From this beach you can look west to see Watch Hill at the end.

Sent the drone up from our very tasteful Breezeway Resort several blocks inland for an early morning shot along the beach looking east. There's not a lot in the village, just a few hotels restaurants and bars.

Walked several miles down the beach to near Watch Hill but opted to drive the truck down there the next day. Walked down the Lighthouse Road past Taylor Swifts big white Holiday House Mansion. $17 million and worth every record. She wrote the last great american dynasty about the property. She has $50 million worth of Manhattan property and mansions in Nashville and California etc. She is an amazing person. Saw the smaller house to the left listed for $17 million on the real estate board.

The three story Yacht Club building sits in the harbor. We walked the 2 mile round trip down Napatree Conservation Area sand bar. The 1939 Hurricane destroyed several dozen houses that used to sit on it.

Looking back at the Watch Hill harbor from the walk path.

At the end of the peninsula there were many rocks. As I droned a 30 year- local Sea Glass artist snapped our picture.

On our way home we stopped thru Mystic Conneticuit for lunch at the lovely Red 36 at bottom of picture right on the Mystic River.
