Perception-Reality, what do we see?

I took the above picture from my kayak while touring Canada Lake (coincidentally on 9-11-05). It WAS really there, but with a little neon added here to represent what the locals perceived of this structure. Their government representatives had battled for a decade to have it removed, and finally last week did demolish and remove it. The only remnants now are the allowed twin towers of concrete piers. For me, I liked the kayak ride, the "boathouse", and the controversy but now only an image of history remains.

The above AP photo of Olympian Lindsey Vonn, is to me one of THE premier images of skiing. I took the lower picture of World Champion Ingemar Stenmark at Stratton Mt, Vermont 3-3-78 back in my skiing days. Not nearly as dramatic or sharp so I did my best editing of it.
