chapter 351

Contrasts

failure as a success

No central theme or moral: just random failures/ successes. Some images I want to remember but if I don't mention them hereĀ  I'd never find them in the future without my google search box.

Keyword: Bowman's Orchard opened up for strawberry picking 3 miles away. You may have noticed I'm using color and shape contrast here to create impact. Wanted to capture the whole perspective of rows of berries, pickers, background sky. Failed. But sometimes failure is a success too. MacIntosh apple creation linked to this farm. Creator's sister is buried in the historic orchard cemetery.

Always love the journey into Adirondack Good Luck Lake; Tony and Darcy joined with canoe. Luminance contrast works here to give depth. Failed to fully savor a whole day's journey, but half day was Good Enough Lake trip. We all had some hitches in our giddy-up to NOT go, but it has been written: Just Do It.

Christie was motivated for her first kayak ride on Saratoga Lake outlet. When I saw the texture contrast giving the illusion of floating on the surface, I knew it was the right moment. She succeeded with no problems. Spotted big fish on nest. Got too cloudy for more pictures and embedded a rusty fish hook into my hand, but an overall success. Woman rafting on the inlet to the lake drowned a day before.

Another successful Catskill Pecoy Notch Trail cleanup, failed to find any blowdowns to remove. Lighting contrast between the subjects and background with a little foreground contrast in shapes yielded a reasonable image to an otherwise boring timer snapshot. Continuing research into Pecoy name. Seems to be for the Civil Warrior Oscar Pecoy.

Too many images to comfortably fit on one page. Extra coverage in folder link above. Not all award winners, but I was lucky to capture a somewhat rare Spotted Sandpiper nesting pair with chick along the Mohawk River. Still failing to capture Peregrine but did get nesting Bank Swallow (they are usually flitting around so much you can't focus on em).
