Our first trip to Germany near Baden Baden, and it proved to be not so rough. Bombed Daimler (Mercedes) Benz engine machine shop. The outfit released too early and most bombs hit in a nearby forest. Our bombadier hit the target perfectly right into the buildings. Went in near Nancy encountering light flak. It was 32 degrees C below zero.
This factory site started in 1894 making it the oldest automobile plant in the world. Daimler was the most important armament manufacturer to the Third Reich.
Michelbach next door has an interesting history.
