1 dead, hundreds arrested, LSD laced gummy bears

My experience with drugs and the Phish heads all began quite innocently...

This Monday Chris came home and said there was a young disoriented stranger sitting on the curb up the street. With the recent sweltering heat I decided to see if I could help.

He came out from lying under a neighbor's apple tree; muddy face, barefoot wearing boxer shorts. He basically did not know where he was, where he had come from, or where he was going.

I could smell the alcohol and with difficulty eventually determined he was a 24 year old Marine Lance Corporal from Stewart Air Base , Newburg. Had relatives near Lake George.

Took him down the street to a neighbor Army Sergeant who works at the Watervliet Arsenal. By happenstance, the kid's car was parked there which he could recognize (barely).

We did not want him to drive away nor get him in trouble by calling the police. He could find no key at any rate.

We were eventually able to call his base and his parents. They had already been to his base looking for him because the State Troopers had a hit and run complaint against him. He was also AWOL, although he thought he was still on a 4 day leave. I think he indicated he had a previous overseas deployment to Iraq. There was minor damage to the front of his car but no blood. He didn't know what he hit.

His parents were on route to pick him up when I searched under the other neighbor's apple tree and found the car keys.

When I read the papers about the Fri, Sat, Sun Phish concert in Saratoga it all made sense, or does it?
