We had an oceanview motel and got lucky with a remarkable sunset one evening. The Pilgrim Tower monument honoring the first landing of pilgrims from England in 1620 is the landmark visible from everywhere.

It's 5 o'clock somewhere   Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett. This was our favorite beach, Race Point at the tip of the cape. Of course, all these National Parks are free for us with my Senior Pass.

"I got my toes in the water, ass in the sand. Not a worry in the world, just a cold beer in my hand. Life is good today." the popular lyrics by Zac Brown was the appropriate theme for this chapter. We snuck a bottle of wine onto the beach, a no no, so we stole some cups at the gas station to cover our indiscretions. We wanted our toes in the water, which was fine until a rogue wave slammed us killing one digital camera temporarily (see blow dryer pic).

Going off cycle and after Labor Day is beautiful (and cheap). Bottle of wine $10, avoiding the annoying mob of tourists, priceless. It's O.K. to tour but try not to be a tourist.

Living on Spongecake, watching the Sun bake, now I understanding the lyrics from Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville. The Portuguese Bakery was, dare I say, divine .

At the Portuguese Bakery they make everything right there on the spot. Delicious warm fried dough couldn't be resisted. Sometimes you gotta indulge.

This was our view from dinner at the historic Provincetown Inn at 1 Commercial St. No, it's not the actual outside, or is it. The artist Don Aikens painted these lovely 8 foot high murals throughout the Inn in 1966.

Going off-season is my way of doing things. We had a gourmet three course meal for $16 and the crowds were down to just a dull roar.

We were literally swimming with the Harbor Seals, although the sign warned of Great Whites feeding on them. Just a brief plunge so we could say we did it. Very cute, they were all along the coast. And the fisherman saw a Great White earlier a few feet out, and a pod of Whales blowing.
