fantastic
The Perimeter Trail that circles around Ouray is fantastic and a popular attraction. Nevertheless, we only encountered a few other hikers. All Trails Map Using my drone on several shots.
We did the first mile exiting at the Lower Cascade Falls and circled back through the city streets and walk path to the Hot Springs parking.
Beautiful views every step of the way. Our hedgehog mascot "Woodstock" rides along with Colleen.
It takes an effort on every Colorado trail and Ouray base elevation is nearly 8,000 feet.
Yellow dots show our trail. I took this later with the drone launching at the Hot Springs where we started the hike.
Had my drone with me on hike, but Colleen was too afraid to let me do it from the trail. She said if I slid down the embankment and was killed she'd never forgive herself. I think she was over reacting, or perhaps she saved my life. The small waterfalls is ahead and beautiful too but didn't get any good shots.
Went to Mexican restaurant for lunch (twice) and walked right by bear poo in town. The bears seem to come out at night scavanging for food but we didn't see them during daylight. Did see mule deer in town at midday.
On another day we did the Box Canyon southern section of the perimeter trail.
Here we take the trail over Canyon Creek Bridge then thru a tunnel and down a long flight of stairs toward Oak Creek Canyon.
Hard to capture the feeling of the hike with the sharp drop offs and vertical relief climbs and descents. On this shot a hiker on far side of Oak Creek Canyon heads back toward the village.
