Chapter 207 notes

5/14/09

Quick Hello.Hi Guys,

I can't believe it. Last night just when I lapsed into the beginning of a deep sleep the phone rings and it's Terry Olmstead telling me about the Men's Co-op #1 website he's working on. Talk about a blast from the past. My head has been running memory movies all day.

Well, I went to the site and what a gas. It's great just to be able to reach you guys by e-mail and learn a bit about what you've done in the last forty plus years. (remember making wine in attic) Bruce Madonna

speaking of blasts from the past.............

You called the office yesterday, which is probably not the best place to reach me these days. I should be around the house (207-622-6822) most of this weekend, but do screen my calls.

Loved the video of Bob.

Take care..........................Josh

I have been away in San Francisco visiting my daughter and will try to write something in the next several days. I would be interesting to see some of the coop members.

Regards, Nick

I finally had a chance to look at the site. I really enjoyed it. It is like going back many years the pictures are a great memory. Not only the Coop but Fort Gordon also. So many of done so many interesting things. I will try to think of something I can contribute. We will have to get together when you are in the area or when I pass through Albany area.

Thanks again,

Tom

Thanks, Terry. I’d love to see it. Anything else I can do?

Harvey S. Cohen

My problem is finding the time! Yup, you are right. I sold the '44 before I left for Iraq and treated myself to a '89 911 when I got back.

Cheers, Jed

I have a number of very distinct memories of events at the co-op, and i will write them out and send them to you, in an un-edited form, and i am not too good at editing.

I will also send you a current picture, and a picture from my time at Syracuse, in Jpeg form, i do not think the picture you have is me, but if it is, no one could tell.

I will work on this for a few days, and send it to you on Wednesday evening.

By the way, who was the person with a major in landscape design, who was always doing the sound effect of Nazi's marching. (Ken Caldwell)

Who was the dorm president, in 1965-6, who was in Landscape design, and had a room to himself, and in his room, there were two guanas living in a cage. (Ed Hilliard)

Richard Britell

Serg here, am thrilled to hear from you and the prospect of hearing from the others. let me know how to get in touch.

I don’t remember much about 1964. I graduated in ’65. I think I emailed you via my home account recently. People I remember from the Co-op:

Bob Yao (Architecture) ; Jesse Rieber (he used to clean his motorcycle engine in his room); John Keogh (also Forestry); Brian Galusha; Vern Hobbs (Engineering?); Leon Axel; Rolando ? called Roli; then there was a guy in ROTC whose name escapes me now—but he became something like White House advisor on Military Procurement under Bush 41.

Good luck on your research. Send me the URL.

It’s a great pleasure reading your site! I skimmed the whole thing, and look forward to savoring in more detail this weekend.

I have not been in touch with Mark N. Scheinberg, but I’m pretty sure he’s a gynecologist (the opposite of a surprise!) in Florida.

Our choir sang an extensive and challenging repertoire for High Holy Days, I’m back to teaching religious school on Sundays (grades 9 & 10 this year), our subscriptions with the Metropolitan Opera and two theater companies have all begun, and my wife is teaching full time at Stevens Institute. She and I also try to golf together at least once a week and preferably more. I do a little wreck diving off the NJ coast, and in November I’m spending a week on a liveaboard dive boat in Palau. Fortunately, my wonderful job at AT&T Labs rarely requires overtime.Best wishes,Harvey

I have some great memories of some of the crazy things we did back then. It is great to hear about what everyone has been doing all these years. I retired from Hollingsworth & Vose a year ago after spending my career in the Paper and Forest Products Industry. Most of the time Maryann & I spent in the Berkshires with Crane about 20 years. We also spent a few years in Portland and Seattle and I spent 2 years in the Army in Fort Gordon Ga where Terry and I crossed paths.

Since retirement I have been doing a little consulting and also working with the Somerville Homeless Coalition to help move people out of homelessness. Unfortunately with this economy the need continues to increase.

We have spent a lot of time caring for aging parents and helping with the grandchildren. Other than that we enjoy Tennis and I do a lot of running. I finished the Boston Marathon this year and even though my time was slower than I expected the experience was fantastic.

It was great to hear that Nick lives near. Maybe we could have a mini reunion in this area. Did get together with Nick. It is no problem traveling to Albany so I look forward to getting together at some time. We welcome any visitors. We live in Newton near Boston.

did get together with Ranta who attended some conference in Boston 2010, Tom White
