Ch 150 Theory of Relativity

Olmsted's Law

My Theory of Relativity is to try not to influence any of the Olmsted Relatives' choice of pathways in life, however, in practice I have dragged each family member to a sports car race. Took son Shawn to watch the F430's race at Lime Rock and got these shots in the paddock area. The mechanic for these Ferraris told me that last chapter's stock $200,000 car was just not good enough. They gut the car, using perhaps 10% original parts and rebuild better. And this is the slowest division of this world class Le Mans race (only hitting 150mph on the back straight). They led their class till late crash. A huge crowd for the fastest growing blah blah... Because Audi is the team to beat, they brought for display this Audi R8 super road car that for $150,000 one could drive on the street. Porsche took top honors on this day, however. The race is well covered on TV, Speed Channel, etc but you have to be there to really feel the deafening roar and wine of those engines. Bonus pic of legend Paul Newman , wife, son, Michael Brockman from Ch 21.

XM satellite is a major sponsor of this race and I must give two thumbs up to the FREE Xpress unit I just put in my vehicle. The sound quality is remarkable along with the vast choice of commercial free stations (160) for the mere subscription fee of less than the price of a cup of coffee per day. If you spend a few hours a day in your car, it's something to consider. The BMW cancer test driving was on last week so I drove the $100,000 750 iL for a sound check. It had the $1900 premium sound package. That sound is simply incredible, but I rate my free system at 80-90% of that and a bargain. Their (inferior) Sirius streaming signal technology does also fade on occasion!

locksmith update: spotted Mr. Ch. 149 at Bagel shop with beautiful custom red jeep & fancy chrome wheels with a Ferrari sticker on rear. Asked if it was a Ferrari too. He said, " This is really sick, I sent it out for work, put in a 650HP V8. Life is all about horsepower, isn't it."

Olmsted's Law #3 is to  Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.
