Ch 134 Bare Essentials                                    Please Do Not Feed The Bears

Recently found this cute lawn art a mile from our house in Clifton Park. Note it is made from an originally standing tree, very artistic, and complementary with the house and property. Fred Lebrun's (aka Le Bruin) well laid out and timely article on bears also came out this week. Don't know how long it will stay on line, but it explains how "A fed bear will eventually become a dead bear."

When our family camped in the Canadian wilderness we had bears enter our tent sites, tear tents, drag away coolers of fish or bacon, etc. We have on movie film my brother Bill feeding the bears honey graham crackers! Not a good thing to do.

My DEC brothers had to kill a three hundred pounder this summer in the Marcy high peaks area because he had become a nuisance as a result of this continued connection to hikers.

This next picture is in the high peaks area where the bears get connected to hikers.
