Terry's Journey in Retirement

Chapter 647

Kathy's Milestone

70 what?

Sister Kathy turned 70 years old this month so we took her to Hollywood to celebrate. Can't believe how old she is.

Marilyn was there too. It's a great place to visit in Cortland, has been a family tradition and been there for 80 years or so. Used to go there with Grandpa in the 50's - '60s when we delivered potatoes.

On the way down through the bad Air Quality Index of 150 from the Canadian wildfires we visited Americana Vineyard on the western shore of lower Cayuga Lake.

They actually have a for sale sign out front (covid etc) and only get their grapes from a nearby farm. Good enough for a bottle of some award winning semi dry Riesling.

Next stop was at the Just a Few Acres Farm of popular Youtube fame in Lansing on the lower east side of Cayuga Lake (in background). Notice the chicken trailer lower right that the architect turned farmer Pete Larson just installed.

A brief stop at Bright Leaf Vineyard near King Ferry on the eastern side of Cayuga Lake. King Ferry beat my 1961 Class D championship Virgil basketball team down at Ithaca High School in the Sectionals playoffs.

Very much enjoyed the vibe here even though a normal sunny day would have been better. Had some double gold medal winning semi dry Riesling and award winning Chardonnay. There's a mineral taste from the Tully Limestone seen in the background (ie. tastes like rocks). Bought a bottle of Rose to go.

Treleaven Wine next door - bucket list.

As usual Schatzie had a great time without us as she made a new friend.
