14 Tingry- Lille- Pont a Vendin next mission

Second mission of the day bombed south of Lille instead, makes for a long Saturday 4am to 10pm. Bombed the hell out of a Tingry electrical power station and Pont a Vendin RR bridge. No flak nor fighters. Our borrowed ship "SAFU" went down on next mission into Villacoublay.

Smoke blowing out from RAF bomb raid on power plant Pont a Vendin in 1941 Google Hack. Was hit 24Jun44, said to be supplying power to nearby V1 rocket launch site. A 398th BG Flight Engineer described it this way.

A little confusion. Apparently primary target was Tingry- skipped it. Foster says they hit Lille. In the official description, Pont a Vendin is listed as being hit by 12 B24s. That target is a mere 12 miles south of Lille (below).
