Spiritual Vortex

portal to inner peace

Made a nice capture of my canoe launch on Lake George at Shelving Rock last week. Had a good weather window so always try to enjoy the moment. There was a secondary objective to capture the cliff jumpers south at Calf's Pen a 3 mile round trip. Never had been there and succeeded in that but it's not within the theme of this chapter. I want to focus on feeling the beauty of nature. And I believe I can jump through this portal like a time traveler to my other favorite spots.

Red Rocks behind Javelina Cantina Sedona

This is one of my favorite Sedona scenes from last year's Arizona trip. It is not one of the "documented" spiritual vortexes but we did visit several when there. Snoopy Rock is in the background behind the Javelina Cantina  where we had just had a marvelous Mexican meal. The mobile sat out in front of the Gallery of the Modern Masters. I have this picture mounted on the wall in front of my recliner so I see it every day. Had a fleeting idea of buying this shape shifting sculpture but at $22,000 plus shipping there's no way plus it really belongs in Sedona. Interesting that the artist, Andrew Carson had grown up in Boulder Colorado, the site of my next featured picture.

Flatirons

And yes, this too I have shown before. But I just printed it and placed on the other wall in front of my recliner. Climbing the Flatiron Mountains in Colorado was one of the highlights of my life. Hard to describe in words, It's just a feeling.

Just ordered this Spiritile for myself from the Houston Llew collection. It's an enameled copper wrapped around a book size block of wood that you can display on a table or on the wall. He shows the process on Youtube from his Atlanta studio. It's fittingly inscribed "May your trails be crooked, winding, and dangerous, leading to the most amazing view." Edward Abbey, a bit of an anarchist and eco terrorist. Colleen loved it and I bought her one at a gallery in Vail Colorado. She bought one for her daughter who loves serious hiking with her husband.
