Reunion 5

9/14/2013

five for five

Syracuse 54 - Wagner 0

Co-op attendance at our reunion for this year's home opener football game ballooned with the addition of Bruce Madonna, Robert Vitello, and Otto Orangeman. Here on Marshall Street outside the landmark Manny's clothing store on a cool fall semester day we joined for this group shot. Needless to say, it was a joy to seize this moment.

As we approached Watson Dormitory it became evident that all 5 of us spent our frosh year there. This we hadn't previously realized (or had forgotten). Was it chance or fate. You get your diploma, do a job, and BAM it's a half century later. What the hell happened? For next year's reunion contact Buzz in July if you want to attend.

While we were at lunch and on campus the preponderance of smartphones became quite noticeable. They are not always being put to smart uses as in this case of Ellen Degeneres "Heads Up" app. But even our own co-opers are in on the action receiving important update texts from a South Carolina family member.

Soph quarterback Terrell Hunt was just phenomenal, at least against that team. The beginning of another Hall of Fame career??? Thinking of changing my name to Terrell in keeping with a common alumni trend.

Pete has acquired a secondary mountain home . Buzz has acquired additional stents, while still doing his stints with the "peace movement". Robert just back from a couple lovely weeks at various locations throughout Italy. Bruce climbed Mount Kilimanjaro this summer and is heading for a cruise to Alaska next week. Me, I toured the neighboring county by kayak this summer.

Bruce had stayed over night at my house and took an early morning walk at 6am locking the door. Came back trying to get in knocking on the door, ringing the doorbell, and calling on the phone all to no avail in the brisk 50 degree air. By 8:30 I finally arose to let him in having slept off the couple pitchers at the Dinosaur BBQ. Sorry Bruce. A man's got to know his limits.
