a work in progress
We were supposed to stay in Lake Placid for a fun weekend but it seemed more important to do a little work at her camp instead. A beautiful weekend. Shot this on the morning we left town. It's an approach on route 73 coming into town with Whiteface prominent on the left.
Everywhere you look there is beauty. This, the eastern leg of Lake Placid.
Establishing an eastern (white) trail near her (red) property line. Only had loppers and a pry bar to work with. We managed to establish paths all around her perimeter through the thick jungle.
She hated cutting the beloved balsams and white birches (mostly grey birches that look white) but there are plenty nice ones remaining.
The pry bar was useful to move dead and rotting trees. The paths needed to have a smooth grade so Schatzie (mainly we) don't trip over all the uneven terrain and cut tree stubs.
Remnants of a property line blazed gray birch. Note the telltale black triangles below where the branches had emerged. Also stump remnants of past logging activities.
At day's end we walked all the trails with All Trails app recording the geo-locations. Took the drone up at dusk to capture the leaf off vegetation. A few Tamaracks in yellow still holding their needles- the only conifer (cone bearing softwood that is deciduous dropping it's leaves (needles) in the fall.
Pretty quiet at Twin Ponds this time of year although there were a few people around as well as some site development.
A little side trip up by Chateaugay where turbines proliferate.
