Stories

old co-op stories: Ok Terry, Thank you. I'll gather memories and if I can find them, photographs too. After we spoke today I drove around Skagit County doing chores and let the old brain drift into yesteryear trying to trick it into associating names with faces & events. You'll no doubt remember people before my time there and I'll remember those after you left. Still, some of these will be in your time frame too:

Bob Muzzey (girlfriend Carol)(ran for class president?),

Rick Peisinger (spent summer as a forest fire fighter in Alaska),

Bill Timberlake (Forestry)(girlfriend Sally)(my room mate when I made the magnesium earrings),

Buz Conrad (Poli-Sci?, organizer),

Gene Kane, (Poli-Sci?, heavyset,  smoker, organizer),

Sven Martsen (Architect?)(visited me later in Berkeley California, he was then a photogapher)(Co-Op creator of the longest strange ---- contest!),

Joe Treple (law),

Brian Gardam ( a friendly personality, glasses, reddish hair?)(I made his Mobius Strip wedding rings for Margaret),

John (?)(Philosophy, outspoken, black hair & beard, flannel shirts & black jeans with black boots, wore a sheath knife & a "trucker's wallet" on a chain),

John Rixford? (hung out at the Co-Op but didn't live there, Quazimoto & Peter Lori movie impressions)

Stephan (Stephanopolous?)(my first room mate, may have painted his room purple, or his NEXT room mate whose name I can't be sure of but I think "Jim"),

Tom Griswald, (from Maine, his family had an apple orchard business, Architecture? dome building enthusiast, drove an old delivery truck & had an Australian Shepherd dog named something like "Suly",

Ed (?)(very thick beard,)

Josh Nadel,

Peter

Vaughn Palmentier (We were in the attic one night when a bat flew around and settled on his head; Vaughn, holding still so as not to disturb it, responded by reciting a poem about a bat! -- THAT's a memory for the website.

(still a few faces without names yet)

... that's all for now,

Alan

Amazingly, I found my little address book from '66 - '75, resulting in more memories, names and corrections:

Tom Clark who's girlfriend was Becky Baxter I think.

Do you have a memory of Tom Clark? He may have been one of the Co-Op's denizens but I'm not positive. In fact I may be confusing him with Griswald,

Vaughn Palmentier's (Polmentier in my old address bk.) girlfriend was "D", Dianne Frank -- I saw her once again, in Boulder Colorado,

(?) Hendrick (or Henrick) Glaser Glaezer, art student -- painter -- who's studio space I later inhabited in the attic,

Rick Crumb, (aka Paul Knight) squatter at the Co-Op, not a student

Jay Taber & Marsha, squatters not students, whose camper van broke down in Syracuse; years later I saw Jay again in Berkeley CA

Other people from SU:

Debby Noyes, from Pittsburgh, silversmith

Kathy Raphael, from Pittsburgh, silversmith

Jim Achuff, lived in Syracuse and taught at Chautauqua Institute

Larry Bakke, taught painting

Alyce Kaprow, Industrial Design student

Larry Feer, taught Industrial Design

Leland Smith, taught Industrial Design

Jim Perkle, taught Industrial Design

Jaques Gagnon, Montreal, Industrial Design student

Lee Ducell, taught design

John Marshal, taught silver smithing, later taught in Seattle at U of W,

Terry Orlick, Phys Ed., gymnast & psychologist, now a wildly successful author in Canada

Jeffrey Apfel,  Jeffrey says he had lived in the attic 70-71, as did Alan. Thought he wrote an anthropology paper for him and Alan made a ring in return, which later pressed into service as a wedding ring.  Pity, got divorced and remarried--the ring, which is very nice, had to go into storage. Alan remembers Jeff Apfel, but his memory of writing an Anthropology paper for me isn't accurate, I never took any Anthropology courses. I can't for the life of me think of what that might have been because I don't remember ever writing any papers other than art history and freshman year English. Maybe he helped me with a Conscientious Objector statement. That's a fairly old link so I don't know what is up with him, but I am pretty sure it is the same guy.
