Operation Midnight Hammer

The B2's conducted an awesome mission flying non stop from Whitesman Air Base in Missouri dropping bunker buster bombs on Iran's nuclear enrichment site and back.

The primary assets used in the raid on Iran were from his sister unit the Air Force's 509th Bomb Wing at Whitesman, part of Dad's Eight Air Force.

As I mentioned 16 years ago in Chapter 209, I have a connection to this story. My college freshman roommate Jared, had become an Air Force pilot and Brigadeer General. His son Jared Jr, is currently a Colonel and  Commander of the 131 Bomb Wing at Whitesman Air Base as the only (Missouri) Air National Guard unit authorized to carry nuclear warheads in their B2s with a history going back 100 years. I don't know if his unit assisted on this operation but I'm guessing they played a role, perhaps as the decoy planes that went west since they partner and support the 509th B2 program.

Including a shot of Jaren Sr from earlier chapters. We were actually in the Air Force ROTC together freshman year for a while until I dropped out. From our Watson Dorm I'm thinking he was studying the tree and shrub identification book from our Forestry Dendrology Course.

It's just interesting how life works out. It's one of the reasons I like to document and record what's going on aroud me. And it keeps my mind active as it were. On a sweltering day outside I'm supposed to stay in doors (and contemplate).
