Nature Photos

there's always a landscape

I'm able to launch on a moment's notice from my deck so when a lighting opportunity arises, boom. A quick morning shot with sunlight. This winter has been a cloudy drag but the sun will be under cloud cover during the twilights.

An evening opportunity sent me across the reservoir facing our houses toward the west.

Our town acquired the wooded property on the right side of Riverview Road a few years ago but I didn't know it is actually open to visit from a dirt entrance. We moseyed around it then I noticed the 40 acre solar array across the road which has been there for years as well. This is just a few miles from home but the solar panels are so hidden behind hedges that I had no idea the farmer had them installed. Very lucrative for farmers who are just trying to scratch out a living. This farmer from central NY does a nice job explaining.

This is ground level at our new 41 Acre Park on the Mohawk as it is called presently. The Wizzard of GE, Charles Steinmetz had his summer camp just on the right bank here a hundred years ago. He came to GE just after they dumped Thomas Edison. Charles was a genius in the developing technologies of alternating current.

A small shallow pond is included in my (our) new park. Shatzie loves it here - got pic of beaver here so far.

Continuing to exploer Rensselaer County during weather windows. This from Grafton Forest, the Valley View Trail.

A few journies to the beautiful Barkersville Falls area. This on the Stream Trail.

Got Collen & Schatzie over to Grafton Lakes State Park for an ice fishing demo. The Sportsman's Club was very welcoming as most of them owned golden retrievers themselves. They shared cooked venison and trout with us. Even with a warm winter we had 4 inches of ice.
