Ch 107 Going Corporate                                             Paper Pushing Again

I’m getting deeper into the private corporate world now after having spent the first half of my life in the public sector. The stories are piling up in my out box. The cultivation of my graphic arts capabilities (imaging composition) honed through these swap chapters led me to float a proposal for an advertising gig with an Albany based private company (confidential).

In order to establish secure interconnectivity to our Fla office for real-time voice and fax interchange we use a Voice over Internet Protocol. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voice_over_IP Transmissions through our LAN line are routed through the cable based high band width WAN for high speed communication.

Time is money. Not like the public sector where time can be cross word puzzles. Coincidently, I’d just completed a free-lance job for a former state work customer pictured with yellow lamp, installing a Direct Subscriber Line and a SKYPE system http://www.skype.com/system for free international phone calling (note cross-word).

Our cell phone, unlike my daughter’s, is a necessity in our business model. At the Department of State, I must immediately establish a communication link with our CEO  to confirm that the state (secret) documents at our secured box pick up are in order.  Then it’s on to search for felony criminal background checks at an undisclosed computer data base facility. Kinda like a private eye.

My hope is to assist long enough without being canned so that I may do my document distribution on bicycle this summer (yellow socks) then participate in what is our Olympics  http://www.nybma.com/cmwc2005/photos.php

CSC (ch 106) is a large service company. Their regional office is located in yellow in the featured IBM building, corner State & Pearl, Albany. [Pete note your  Websphere MQ V6 training held there last September] http://www.bigbluesoftware.com/calendar.asp?action=details&id=55 The site has an interesting and colorful historical past (Phillip Scuyler’s yellow Dutch house 1667) http://www.albany.edu/museum/wwwmuseum/statestreet/stateandpearl.html

and was even the site of SUNY Albany where Hiram Olmsted attended college before the Civil war. http://library.albany.edu/speccoll/campusbuildings/statest.htm My old DOT office from 1968 in Delaware & Hudson RR bldg in background (in yellow, now SUNY).

My portion of Saleen S7 transport job (in, of course, yellow) fastest production car in world moving slowly here. Steve shipped from California to Detroit for new paint, then loaned us the car for current exhibit. http://www.saleen.com/about_steve_saleen.htm
