"This was no milk run by any means, and we weem to hit nothing but the Ruhr (Happy Valley). Led the 446th BG. 5/10 cloud cover up to the Castrop-Rauxel synthetic oil refinery near Dortmund. This didn't stop the flak, and plenty came up. Several burst hit near the ship, and we got some nice large holes. Scared the hell out of Olmsted, but I wasn't looking for the flak, so it didn't bother me. Bombed GH. Got back with about 15 holes." Foster
Ruhr Valley Raiders above are B17 with ME 109s Messerschmidts. Ruhr Valley was a big target.
