Adirondack Droning

all legal

Haden't been hiking on the Tongue Mountain Range for about 50 years back when I did it with a friend and as an office group hike. We did see a timber rattler back then as this is one of their rare habitats in NY. On this journey we chose the Fifth Peak Trail from the Northwest Bay trailhead (on the right).

Looking south the first lit peak is Fifth, then a little bump, then French Peak a little left, then First Peak pointed toward Lake George Village. The Narrows is on left (with our hikes of) Shelving Rock and Buck Mt in the distance. I think Sleeping Beauty far left. We could proceed with the Lake George 12sters , not that I'm in to checklist hiking.

They say you can't drone over Wilderness Areas but this is merely State Land so OK.

This couple did a pretty good job documenting the route as a Youtube video.

At the top we met just a few hikers. One couple was enjoying a memorable moment a little "too much" that we wont get in to. This guy was on the phone discussing his Panama hike to someone. No cell service at bottom of trail.

It was a 5.5 mile round trip that was completly exhausting to me after toting a very heavy backpack with drone gear and extra jackets for the 40 - 50 degree day. But it was a great feeling of accomplishment. Low sun on the way up lit the green moss.

It was lovely at the top and we stayed a tad too long. Didn't fully consider the required hike time, sunset daylight savings time so hoofed it  quickly where safe and made it out by sunset. Had the head lamp backup in pack anyway. Low sun lit up the foliage.

Nearly to the bottom now. A slight pause to look at the colors. Colleen always wanted to be a mountain woman, and now feels fulfilled.

Got in some late fall motorcycle trips. This is the Mohawk River Cohoes Falls brink looking downstream at Brookfield Power and Harmony Mills where they dug up the Mastodon 150 years ago.
