paradise north
Lake Placid has been a special place for us. On this eighth three day trip the mood was serenity and calm.
We had a great deal on upscale lodging at the Lake Placid Club Lodges . Our two story condo unit #63 is featured at the bottom of their website on the shore of beautiful Mirror Lake. The weather was predicting as snow and freezing rain with potential road closures, power outages and general chaos. We had snow and freezing rain but nonetheless a beautiful weekend.
I forced myself to include a few more videos. These links will connect to a series of short vids: Lodges Tour, Hungry Trout Restaurant.
The picture above is from our dining room table at the Hungry Trout Restaurant in nearby Wilmington. We had a gift certificate left over from a previous stay there so dinner was free, as well as the next evening too.
After de-icing our truck we got to the Mount Vanhoevenburg Olympic Center for the Swix SuperTour National Championships mixed relay 4x5Km cross country ski race event. Was able to sneak down with the credentialed professional photographers to photograph some world champions for my video. They were frantic and a new experience for us. Drone upper left was by the pros. Stratton Mountain Vermont SMS T2 team won the event.
The setting was so pleasant from our lodge that we spent more time than normal inside recovering from hikes. It was truly mystical and magical. Morning coffee video with Van the Man and evening Forest Cafe Jazz video with fireplace after our hike. Really wanted to capture and remember the moments.
Went to Paul Smith's College the Visitor Interpretive Center for a nice and tiring micro spike walk around the Herron Marsh Nordic trail in the freezing rain.
Then back to relax by the fireplace.
Leaving in the morning there was just a momentary glint of sun for the birds eye drone shot. Track in lake is for their winter toboggon chute. Our place lower right- behind the Hampton where we've stayed in past years.
