Use Screenflow to record yourself and screen worki

Post

Post each of your edited special effect video clips and Master Shot clips to YT (title them appropriately & in detail)...also export what you have finished on your iMovie timeline so far to YT. Post all the YT links to Posterous while typing the category and three specific Master Shots that you chose to do. Post the Posterous link to the spreadsheet. Be prepared to show your Screenflow at school.ng to edit your film. Spend five hours editing and record about one hour at a time so the file is not too large and name it hour 1, hour 2, hour 3, etc.

Part A

Editing

Start by editing your After Effects required effect for your Act. Remember, only you can edit the footage for your Act. Import any footage you will use for the AE scenes into iMovie as Large and export as Large so that the file is more managable. Then import into AE and edit your AE effect. When finished, render as H.264 and post it to YT and the link to the spreadsheet. After you post it to YT your AE effect will be graded right away for part of your project grade.

The following is the list of AE Effects:

    • Jumper Effect - The person warps to another of the screen like the video example or use a action jump cut to a different location and use a downloaded visual effects for emphasis
    • Freeze Effect - Person freezes but things and people around the person keep moving (I freeze but Sarah keeps moving) [tutorial]
    • &
    • Clone Effect - Use two video clips of the same person on the screen at the same time (two of me at the end of the video scolding Sarah)
    • Flying - A person flying in the air [tutorial]

If you finish early, edit your Master Shot and visual effects (e.g. Smoke, Fire). You will only be required to film and edit two Master Shots per group member (not three).

Look Ahead:

Master Shots

Edit your two Master Shots and post them separately to YT while naming them appropriately. Post the links to the spreadsheet.

After you post it to YT your AE effect will be graded right away for part of your project grade.

Part B

    • Using your printed script table, update it by crossing out with pencil what you already filmed. Now edit your Act using iMovie for basic editing and After Effects for special effects and exporting those video clips into your main project in iMovie. In this checkpoint you must have the following:Visual effect visual effects (e.g. Smoke, Fire)
    • Previous edits (Master Shots & AE special effects)

Complete at least half of your editing. Your complete edited video will be 60-90 seconds.

Upload your video file to YT and email the link Wordpress and post to the spreadsheet.

Part C

We are now finishing the film editing! This will be your third class to edit.

Make sure you meet all of the requirements:

    • Each student must use 3D lighting appropriately on at least one clip. Watch AE Tut.5 if you need to learn how to create it.
    • Two master shots per student (your best one will be graded)
    • AE Effects as well as special effects
    • Your required cuts, shots, & angles
    • Each person's part can be 60-90 seconds long and the total film must be under 5min (1 point deduction per second)
    • Mute the audio clips in your timeline (cmd + shift + n)

Act I Edit

Place the title of your film with white text black background at the beginning of Act I but do not use default font; use a font that makes it look film professional.

Optional for Act I: Advanced Superhero Credis.

Act III Edit

The student in charge of Act III should work on adding bloopers and credits at the end by following the directions. Make sure your final video is under five minutes.

All Edits

Export and post it to YT and the link to Wordpress and the spreadsheet. Also save the video file to your dropbox and share it with the leader of the group who is going to compile the Acts together. All you have left is the humorous narration which will be finished next class.

If you finish early you can work on adding your sound effects and background music:

-Add sound effects: http://soundbible.com

-Background music during certain appropriate parts: http://freeplaymusic.com/search

In class, the group leader will have all three Acts in iMovie and the three will narrate the film in iMovie and export and submit to YT and turn in their final film. You do not need to post anything to the checkpoint spreadsheet, just the final project spreadsheet.

two special effects and three Master Shot on their Posterous. If you cannot find it, email them and ask them where it is. Leave helpful comments on what looks good and how it could have been approved. You cannot simply say it all looks good and everyone knows that we should welcome comments that help us get better. The most important comment is the Master Shot comments. You must view the Mastershot text from www.mastershots.posterous.com and the video tutorial at www.mastershots.mouseflip.com (the text always overrides the video tutorial if there are any contradictions). Write a separate comment for each Master Shot and respond if they shot it correctly according to the links above. If they did not then explain how it should have been done. Give them a score of 1-7 in terms of how accurate each Master Shot is suppose to be (7 means it is all great). You will receive a separate grade on your comment on how accurately you understood the Master Shot and how accurate If you have missing scenes when you edit in iMovie then place a black still image as a filler until you get the clip that you need. While you are editing, make a list on the back of your table script of scenes/clips you still need to film and place a star on the table script next to rows you need to refilm. If your group finishes editing or needs more video clips to film first before editing then you may request to film during the current class.your comment is.

Group 1 (Grace Lee) will review Group 2 (Josh), 2 will review 3 (Her), and 3 review 1.

Act I people will review the other Act I member of the group they are matched with above.

Comment

Go to the person you are suppose to review and check over what they posted so far of their video edits and comment what they did well and how they could have improved. Here are some of the areas you can comment on: cuts, shots, angles, storyline, is it funny?, master shots, etc. You are not responsible for people to comment on yours...you just need to comment on the person you are assigned.

Green

Film anything you need for the green screen in the computer lab and edit those in AE and

Post your YT green screen edit if you did one, a link to the Posterous article of the person you commented for the Master Shots, and also post the YT link of your finished film to Posterous. Also add your exported video file to dropbox so that the group leader has access to it to combine all videos for the next checkpoint. export to YT.
