Idea

You will be designing a magazine for your final project using some of the tasks you have already designed. Think of what style of magazine you want to make. Type out the genre (e.g. sports, fashion, business, etc) and explain why you chose that topic. Now search the Internet for magazine covers that fall into your genre. Find three covers of that genre that have people on the front cover. Later you will try to mimic one of these poses so choose your cover accordingly. Also, write down a student you want to ask to be featured on the front cover and write down one backup person. Try to use classmates or other students but you may use other people (teachers, elementary students, etc. if you get prior approval)When you are all done with this checkpoint and after you post this to Posterous and the link to the spreadsheet, email the first choice person the link and ask them to make a comment in your Posterous link if they agree to be the subject for your photograph front cover. Make sure you email them the date and time you plan to take the photo in the CA lab since you must use studio lighting. Tell them what to wear and any props they will need.Their photos are due by March 8th at 4:30pm at the very latest. You can take photos among the following times:> 6:55-7:15am Mon-Thur> Mon AP Time> after school on most days except Fri, just let me know > during class Tell them to confirm if will help you and can make that day/time by commenting on your Posterous article and also ask them which of the three article choices (directions below) appeals to them the most and which one they prefer the article to be written about. The confirmation comment is due within 24 hours after the due date of CP.1.

You will write an article about something related to your genre and the person on the front cover for the inside article of your magazine and feature the person you took a picture of from the front page. Write three different ideas for what to write your article about and give a potential title for each of the three. Your person on the front cover will choose via Posterous comment which one they prefer the article to be about.

Once they give a Posterous comment on which article they want it to be about, write two paragraphs to start out your article in a Google Doc. Make the Doc public and past the Google Doc link to the CP.1 comment and also to the spreadsheet with 24 hours after CP.1 is due. Also complete the the following within 24 hours after:

Go to Adobe Kuler and choose a color rule and five colors to work with for the front cover and middle article. Then in your CA Book, use the page to make a rough draft of your design layout of the front cover. Your sketch of the person does not have to be really good, just make sure you have the form and write the title of your new magazine name (do not choose one that already exists) and write article titles on the cover like you typically see. Take a screenshot of your cover rough draft and the color scheme and make sure to show the RGB colors. Post the screenshot to a new Posterous article but not to the spreadsheet.
