Bear & Friends

Directions

If you open your AE file and if you are ever missing files, select the file missing in your top right file bin and press ctrl + cmd + h and select the file (video). Make sure all of your files are saved on your Macbook and it helps if they are backed up on Google Drive so you don't have to start over in case your Macbook breaks.

Remember that cmd + k will open up your settings if you need to change the AE composition size, background color, time duration, etc.

    • Open your bear you previously made in in AI and rename the
    • layers by numbering them is ascending order like the example on the right. If you don't do this, when you import your panda, the layers will be all mixed up.You previously created a second character when you made your Panda, open this file as well and rename the layers by numbering them like the example on the right.
    • Watch the video example to import your characters into two separate composition tabs within your one AE project file.
  • You are now ready to start the tutorial, watch the short video example to see how you can rotate your bear's arm. Then watch the video to add your bear and snow caps to the mountains in all the foreground mountains (at least three snow caps) to the same layer as the mountains (if you don't, it may not import or appear in AE). When you make changes to a layer in your AI docoument, you must press cmd + s to save it, then the changes will be seen in your AE if it is already linked.
  • You an also add other elements if you want (e.g. river example above). Animate the bear in a creative way according to your story. It does not have to be exactly like the video but you still need to animate it using similar AE tools.
    • Then animate your second animal onto the scene coming from behind your bear (video) and animate it according to your storyline.
  • Add snow falling & fix your sun using the short video.
    • Render as H.264 and upload the video to Schoology.

Do not do

When finished, render as H.264.

but if your video file size is too big (e.g. over 200mb) then open your .mov video in Quicktime & export it in 720).
