Objective
Turn your sketch drawing of yourself into a vector (view the examples).
Directions
- You already finished creating your Author Sketch in your CA book (directions).
- After you read the following examples below to better know how to create your self-portrait vector, open a new A4 portrait document and watch the video tutorial to create your vector portrait. Make sure when you create your self-portrait that it is your work and not someone else making it for you.
- Follow the guideline doc.
- Make sure you draw from the top of the head down to about your shoulders.
- As you edit your self-portrait, don't spend too much time on it and the details. Just make sure you have the requirements and then next class I will suggest edits and you can add your highlights and shading to finalize it. Although if your vector appears to obviously lack effort, you may have to redo it.
- When you are finished, export the file as a JPG full quality and name your First & Last name and upload it to Schoology.
Dedication
Guidelines
- Choose someone (anyone) to dedicate your story to
- Add the text, "Dedicated to Person's Name"
- Create an appropriate background
- Do not include a photo of them unless it is drawn by you in Illustrator
You will now start tracing and filling in the basics of yourself, similar to the method from the product tutorial when you created your product. Like the video tutorial says, start by creating the largest shape, which is your face, and filling it in with your skin tone. Use can also use the Live Paint tool to color it the same way you used it to color the snow board guy in the tutorial.
do not do:
- Start by importing your photo of the sketch that you made in your CA book from an earlier checkpoint and insert it (AI: File > Place) onto your AI document.
- Now open AI and a new portrait with a document size of 4in wide x 6in tall, RGB & 300 ppi. Name the file your classID SelfPortrait.
