Panorama Photos

You will create a photomerge panorama of a street. Find a street with a main building you want to have as your subject. Take your panorama photomerge photos and a proof shot of yourself at the same location and time.

Photo Taking Guidelines

1. Find a good street but it cannot show moving objects or moving people. Look for good colors, contrast, and points of interest that would be interesting like the one below although it needs to show the entire building and don't cut it off like this example.

1. Don't stand too far away but not too close. You should be close enough so that you have to take at least 3 vertical photographs in order to capture the entire vertical of the building but you should not be able to see the entire building through your camera in just one shot. The photos below are a good example and the second and last photo are an example of the finished photo after editing which comes later.

1. While looking at the building, extend your hands straight out. You will take photos from one side (hand) to the other side which will be 180 degrees. Notice in the example below you can see both the right and left side of the same road which is 180 degrees. Although, the image height has to be twice the height as this example.

1. While you take photographs horizontally 180 degrees, you will take 3-4 vertical shots before panning your camera horizontally over to take the next set of shots. You need to take at least six horizontal rows which means at least 18 photos in all since you must take at least three rows. Make sure to capture the ground and the sky.

1. When taking your consecutive photos horizontally and vertically, make sure to overlap the photos to make sure there are not any gaps. If you miss some of the photo area (black) and it will later look like the following when you edit.

1. If possible, try to make sure that your camera settings when you take the photo are the same for each of the photos that you take. As you turn the camera to take photos the lighting will change based on where the sun is so if you have a manual setting use it. Otherwise just use automatic and hope for the best when editing later.
2. Later after we photo merge them together we will be dividing the image into three separate photos to create a large collage image of the street & buildings so make sure it is vertical enough.

Upload all the photos you took for this assignment to your Picasa in an album named Panorama and include your proof shot.
